Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is a leading convention destination with high-quality, renovated infrastructure designed to meet organisers’ needs.

Adjustable, customisable Convention Centres from Avignon to Monaco

Over 20 convention centres capable of hosting plenary sessions of between 150 and 3200 participants, with significant exhibition surface areas ranging from 100 to 24,000m². Thanks in particular to investment from local, regional and departmental Authorities as well as private partners in buildings that generate significant economic impact on the region, the vast majority of Convention Centres and Exhibition Parks have undergone full renovation works.

High-performance facilities can be adapted to suit most uses and events. The largest convention centres are located in Nice, Cannes and Marseille. Our region is on par with the two other leading business tourism regions in France: Paris-Ile de France and Rhône-Alpes.

High renovation investment

On the Côte d’Azur, the Palais Acropolis began major redecorating works in 2009, with over 25 million euros invested. Two new convention centres were set up: the Centre Expo Congrès de Mandelieu la Napoule with 12 million euros invested in its renovation and extension works, and the recently opened Palais des Congrès d’Antibes in which close to 50 million euros was invested.

In Provence, 34 million euros were invested in modernising the city’s two main convention centres: the Palais du Pharo in Marseille which reopened in early 2013 after a year of works designed to renovate its spaces and façades, and the Palais des Congrès et des Expositions/Marseille Chanot, which also underwent significant rebuilding work, particularly on Hall 1, now renamed Palais des Événements, with a plenary room to seat up to 3,200 participants.

The Parc Expo d’Avignon has been extended and in January 2014 will open the doors to its new Convention space to seat up to 900. 6 million euros were invested in the project.
Finally, the Centre des Congrès d’Aix en Provence has also been fitted with a new façade and an extension of the plenary room for events to seat up to 500 people.

High quality hospitality

An array of 3-star to 5-star establishments hosting business seminars and conventions all year-round. These vast establishments are home to well-equipped meeting rooms and dining areas, with some also featuring customisable exhibition spaces.
The region is home to leading 4-star hotel establishments, mainly located on the Côte d’Azur, in Cannes, Nice and Mandelieu la Napoule, with group capacities ranging from 180 to 300 people in a single hotel. In Provence and in Marseille, Avignon and Aix en Provence in particular, numerous 4-star hotels are available.
Leading international hotel chains continue to open new establishments in the region, including the Intercontinental Marseille Vieux Port and the Hotel Renaissance Aix en Provence (Marriott).
Many hotels that are members of the network are involved in quality policy and eco-label programmes.
