Offering an incomparable quality of life, Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis makes every effort so that sustainable development is at the heart of its policy in the sectors of the city. This is reflected in the arrival of the tramway and the removal of bus lanes which have brought back nature in the streets: a way to organize trips in soft and carbon-free modes.
In addition, Nice leads the way with 10 years of the “Var Plain Eco-Valley” project. A unique project in France, it combines technological development and sustainability. Nice Smart City is all about innovation, low energy consumption and low greenhouse gas emissions. By 2020, several projects will be completed including:
- Nice Méridia: an urban technology hub, it will provide space for R&D training related to the environment, green growth, health and contactless systems.
- Grand Arénas, one of the largest international business centers in Southern Europe, has been designed on the principles of intelligent urbanism.
Spearheading the Ecocampus of the “Var Plain” project, the Mediterranean Institute of Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development is a multidisciplinary research laboratory and training center specializing in the environment and sustainable development with a focus on R&D, innovation and new business concepts for the Smart City of tomorrow. The Smart City Innovation Center helps ideas become real.
