TOULON FROM MONT FARON

The Var department is one of the most wooded areas in France. In the heart of green nature, Toulon is surrounded by mountains, thus offering an outstanding green panorama highlighting the blue sea and the green pines. Although Toulon is the Var region’s capital, its coast has maintained its original charm, with unspoiled shores, coastal footpaths, parks and gardens with Mediterranean vegetation. Taking the time to live “all the happiness of the South” in Toulon Provence Méditerranée, is to discover the diversity of its 12 municipalities, offering a year-long a modern cultural life and a sweetness of life erected in art!

Toulon Provence Méditerranée has made sustainable development the focus of all operations planned for the Toulon Greater Harbor Project. Toulon is also host to the “Pôle Mer Méditerranée” cluster which aims at sustainably developing the maritime and coastal economy with floating offshore wind turbines, marine environmental engineering, sustainable coastal development and blue biotechnology (health, biofuels and cosmetics).

The Var Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a partner of four European projects focusing on liquefied natural gas (LNG), a fuel that greatly reduces pollutant emissions. It is also leading the HYNOVAR project, aimed at developing a hydrogen sector in the Var region, a zero-emission fuel produced from photovoltaic panels. The Hyseas partner is developing a hydrogen-powered maritime shuttle.
